All elevators are required to be tested each year for code compliance and safety.  For traction elevators an additiona weight test is required every five years.  New York City refers to these tests as CAT 1 and CAT 5.  These test insure that the elevator is safe for public use and identifies repairs that need attention in order to stay code compliant.  If these test are not performed in a timely matter heavy fines can be incurred.  HP elevator is diligent in following through with these requirements.
